A British education for a global future
A British education for a global future
A rigorous and well-rounded curriculum designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning from Early Years to A Levels.
Thames British School offers a continuous educational journey from Early Years to Sixth Form College for students aged 1 to 18, combining academic excellence with personal development in a nurturing international environment. We maintain an excellent teacher-to-student ratio of 1:7, ensuring personalised attention and support for every student.
Early Years (Ages 1–5)
Our Early Years classrooms are spacious, bright, and carefully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and exploration through play-based learning. Each classroom opens directly onto its own outdoor play area, allowing children safe and easy access to fresh air, movement, and active learning throughout the day.
With dedicated bathrooms and private playgrounds for every class, we create an environment that promotes comfort, wellbeing, safety, and growing independence from the very beginning.
At Thames, we believe the early years are fundamental in shaping confident, caring, and curious learners, laying the foundations for future academic and personal success.
Primary School (Years 1–6)
In Primary School, pupils build the strong academic and personal foundations that will support them throughout their educational journey.
We combine the best of the English National Curriculum with the Spanish LOMLOE framework, offering a truly bilingual and bicultural education. Students spend approximately 80% of their learning time following the British curriculum and 20% following the Spanish programme.
Our broad and balanced curriculum includes:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- History
- Geography
- Art
- Drama
- Physical Education
- PSHE
- Music
- Modern Foreign Languages
Alongside academic achievement, we place great emphasis on wellbeing, emotional intelligence, independence, and character development, helping children become resilient, balanced, and globally minded individuals.
Secondary School &
Sixth Form (Years 7–13)
Secondary education at Thames provides both continuity and preparation for the future.
In Years 10 and 11, students follow the internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE programme, allowing them to graduate with both British and Spanish qualifications, a significant advantage for future university applications and career opportunities.
Students study:
- 11–12 subjects in Key Stage 3
- 9 subjects at IGCSE level
- 4 specialised subjects at A Level
Language learning also plays a central role in our curriculum. Alongside English and Spanish, students study French or German, developing strong multilingual skills that broaden their horizons and prepare them to become confident global citizens.
Our Sixth Form experience combines academic rigour with personalised guidance, helping students develop independence, leadership, critical thinking, and the confidence needed to thrive at top universities and beyond.
