Thames British School Madrid at the IB Global Conference: Preparing Students for the Future

This week, 1,700 IB educators from 90 countries, including 340 Heads of Schools and 500 Programme Coordinators, have gathered at the IB Global Conference in Budapest to explore how best to prepare students for the challenges of today’s technology-driven society.

The conference started with two inspiring talks by thought leaders Dr. Elaine Kasket and Charles Fadel, who emphasized the need for educational institutions to adapt and innovate in response to rapid technological advancements. Their insights have led to engaging discussions among educators about the role of technology in education and how it can be harnessed to enrich the learning experience.

At Thames British School Madrid, we closely follow the innovative ideas presented at the conference. Our commitment to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) aligns perfectly with the conference’s theme. The IBDP emphasizes academic rigor and encourages critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding—skills essential in an age dominated by artificial intelligence and rapid technological change.

A Collaborative Approach

The IBDP encourages a collaborative approach to learning, which is vital in today’s interconnected world. Our educators are committed to fostering an environment where students can collaborate on projects, share ideas, and learn from one another. This collaborative spirit aligns with the insights shared at the conference, reinforcing the notion that education should be a shared journey rather than a solitary endeavor.
